I have just finished painting this little town of Manarola in Italy. Perched on top of cliffs, it is one of the five famous Cinque Terre villages frequented by tourists. I would love to go there one day. For now I have enjoyed the painting of it and will produce a limited edition of giclee prints from this original work.

This is my final painting for the Monterey exhibiton this coming Thursday, I'm pleased with it - I love Pohutukawa flowers and this perspective of Rangitoto and Browns island is different to what I'm used to and quite serene. My favourite time of year is the three to four weeks that the Pohutukawa is out in blossom.

I've really enjoyed painting for this exhibition with Caren Thompson, Jill Perrott and Sue Schaare, we are all quite different in our working styles and I think compliment each other. I always paint New Zealand in summer, I love the bright bold colours and the crisp light that this time brings.
