A later work in Jane’s flower series, the style in this painting is more careful and refined – expressing perhaps the delicate and fleeting nature of the subject matter. This original work is painted in acrylics on a birchwood painting board.

This is my latest painting. The view looking down the beach is from a photo taken on one of my many hiking adventures - this one being from Te Waha point lookout. It looks down on Kohuni Bay (which means sea mist) and up Piha beach towards Lion Rock at sunset. The shadow falls on the lower part of the work defining the lush green leaves - which I thought were a rather beautiful foreground of the sunlit beach...

The painting in acrylics on canvas measures 750mm x 1000mm and is framed (765mm x 1015mm) in a wooden tray frame beautifully polished with bees wax.

This big painting is called "To Life" - my inspiration for the title coming after watching the documentary on Oliver Sacks - an amazing man and great doco depicting his life.

The landscape background is Ponui island as viewed from the back of Waiheke Island, and the flowers of course Pohutukawa - maybe my favourite flower. Whether framed on paper or canvas this work stands out like a beautiful window looking out onto a summer's day on any wall.

Acrylic painting on canvas 960mm x 1250mm (framed).

This painting is a view of Waewaetorea island, over looking Waewaetorea channel. I was standing on Urupukapuka island in New Zealand's northland as I took the photo I painted from. The bay of Islands in the north is very special to me. I grew up there as a child and my family have lived there for generations.

This painting shows the watery space between one land form and another, and symbolically for me holds a felt experience of the many transitions we make in our lives. Some bigger at times than others.

Te Hauturu-o-Toi (the official Māori title for Little Barrier Island). Little Barrier is depicted in the far left of this print. Te Hauturu-o-Toi means "the resting place of lingering breezes", a title which captured my attention, both as a very fitting description of the beautiful land I was studying to paint, along with my felt sense while painting this work. I worked on this painting for six months, carefully considering detail, and the varying tones of lightness or darkness in every colour to create distance and balance within this composition. In this painting see if you can f... [view details]

This view is taken from a photograph looking out from Mimiwhangata DOC beach out to sea. One of my favourite places, this painting in acrylics on birchwood board measures 200mm x 200mm.

These 200mm x 200mm paintings on board look very cool hung together in sets of two or three ... or four.

This large work (of 210+ painting hours) depicts an amazing view from the lookout on the very beautiful Roberton island (or Motuarohia island) one of the many stunning spots in the Bay of Islands - in New Zealand's north island. I named this work after the lovely song "Summertime", and also my memories growing up in Paihia exploring the many islands nearby - Roberton being one of them. The left hand side of this print looks up Te Rawhiti inlet towards the main land at Rawhiti in the distance, the distant land on the right hand side directs the eye towards the gorgeous Pareanui an...
