I grew up in Auckland and this gorgeous view of Agapanthus and Rangitoto that this painting depicts gives me a sense of home.

This painting depicts a view from Rangitoto island looking out onto Browns Island through a wild grass which I know from my childhood as Bunny Tails. I remember picking bunches of them :-)

This painting in acrylics captures the haze of a hot summer's day on Motutapu island in New Zealand when I found myself amongst a herd of steers. One of which was just asking to be painted with Rangitoto island :-)

The sea splashes up and over the rocks at stunning Little Barrier island (Te Hauturu-0-Toi), and the pohutukawa trees extend across the point in the distance. Elements which for me capture the joy, beauty and mystery of this place, which I was fortunate to experience again in a recent visit.

Painted in 2001, this water colour work has until now been in my private collection. It shows how my work has evolved over the last 20 years to what it is today.

This stunning depiction of a medley of brightly coloured flowers is part of my most recent flowers series, A celebration of what it is to be alive. The style in this painting is considered and refined - expressing perhaps the delicate and fleeting nature of the subject matter.

This original work is painted in acrylics on board - 295mm x 295mm (framed in a white tray frame).

I saw this amazing plant while I was out walking around Grey Lynn during Auckland's last big lockdown. I'd never seen it before and I just thought it was amazing. It's called Echium Candicans, the pride of Madeira - as it is native to the island of Madeira.

This lovely work of acrylics on canvas measures 1045mm x 1225mm,and is complimented with a lovely wooden frame.

"Pride of Madeira" shows an exploration into an alternative style, in it's more abstract free expression, all the while keeping a play of the new Zealand light on form.

This painting is of the great character Greg who lived on the island of Tiritiri Matangi. I have heard a number of stories about Greg - who was infamous for stealing visitors lunches while they were on a picnic.

I've wanted to paint this view for such a long time. It's taken from a photograph of Ngunguru Sandspit when I was there with my kids on a family holiday, though it could of course be of many places in New Zealand. The  yacht reminds me of one I went away on a lot when I was a kid with my parents - I think it was a Davidson ...

This painting on board is framed in a beautiful white tray with a floating space between painting and frame. It measures 630mm x 430mm x 50mm and is available to view at The Poi room.

Te Hauturu-o-Toi (the official Māori title for Little Barrier Island). Little Barrier is depicted in the far left of this print. Te Hauturu-o-Toi means "the resting place of lingering breezes", a title which captured my attention, both as a very fitting description of the beautiful land I was studying to paint, along with my felt sense while painting this work. I worked on this painting for six months, carefully considering detail, and the varying tones of lightness or darkness in every colour to create distance and balance within this composition. This painting depicts a well known and much loved view of Mahurangi harbour. Painted from a photo I took as I was driving out towards Mita Bay on Mahurangi West Road. I love this area and it's beauty has inspired me to paint several paintings from different perspectives. Measuring 1240mm x 1240mm (framed in a black tray frame). This work makes a significant yet peaceful impact on any wall, and when it has been on one of mine it has been as if I was looking out a window.
