It was such a beautiful day it reminded me of this poem by Rumi: What a day today. There are two Suns rising.... ! What a day. Not like any other day. LOOK...! The Light is shining in your HEART.... The wheel of life has stopped. O you who can see into your own HEART.... What a day, This is your day.

This painting is of the great character Greg who lived on the island of Tiritiri Matangi. I have heard a number of stories about Greg - who was infamous for stealing visitors lunches while they were on a picnic.

This big painting is called "To Life" - my inspiration for the title coming after watching the documentary on Oliver Sacks - an amazing man and great doco depicting his life. 

The landscape background is Ponui island as viewed from the back of Waiheke Island, and the flowers of course Pohutukawa - maybe my favourite flower. Whether framed on paper or canvas this work stands out like a beautiful window looking out onto a summer's day on any wall.

This original painting completed in November 2023 looks down onto Hahei beach and over to Te Pare Point with the Alderman islands in the distance. The serenity of this place, of places like this on a hot summer's day beckon the viewer to visit. I certainly want to go back to Hahei, it's been a while...

It's taken from a photograph of Ngunguru Sandspit when I was there with my kids on a family holiday, though it could of course be of many places in New Zealand. The  yacht reminds me of one I went away on a lot when I was a kid with my parents - I think it was a Davidson ...

This painting depicts a view from Rangitoto island looking out onto Browns Island through a wild grass which I know from my childhood as Bunny Tails. I remember picking bunches of them :-)

This is my latest painting. The view looking down the beach is from a photo taken on one of my many hiking adventures - this one being from Te Waha point lookout. It looks down on Kohuni Bay (which means sea mist) and up Piha beach towards Lion Rock at sunset. The shadow falls on the lower part of the work defining the lush green leaves - which I thought were a rather beautiful foreground of the sunlit beach...
