This print depicts Lion Rock at Piha beach - an iconic landmark. Lion Rock sits between Piha and North Piha beaches, offering anyone who climbs it amazing views in all directions.

To Te Kawerau, Lion Rock was known as Te Piha, which is what the beach is now named. Te Piha referred to the patterns of waves separating and breaking on the front of the rock, like on the prow of a canoe.

This print is taken from a photo I took looking out from Tiritiri Matangi island. Looking at the map I think the land forms in the distance have to be Little Barrier, Great Barrier and the Coromandel. It was an amazing place to visit, and I want to go back and stay overnight. The famous Greg - a Takehe of Tiritiri Matangi island. 

I was once fortunate enough to meet Greg when I visited the island - which lies in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand.

This print depicts a view from Mita Bay campground at Mahurangi Regional Park (West). While looking out from under the shady branches of a pohutukawa tree across turquoise water to Saddle island (Te Haupa island) and in the distance Motuora island, with the headland just around from Big Bay just visible to the left.

This is a print from my latest big painting which I've called "To Life" - after watching the documentary on Oliver Sacks. An amazing man and great doco depicting his life. 

The landscape background is Ponui island as viewed from the back of Waiheke Island, and the flowers of course Pohutukawa - maybe my favourite flower. Whether framed on paper or canvas this work stands out like a beautiful window looking out onto a summer's day on any wall.

This is print is of a bach on Rangitoto island - lease number 52. Rangitoto island back in the day is remembered as a magical place: "and when the last Blue boat left for the day, the island became the bach holders paradise, many shared BBQs, late night swims and walks. The peace of the island was like no other - star gazing and looking back at the twinkling lights of Auckland. Bunks in a tiny room, a transistor radio to keep up with the news, lots of games, a store that pumped out food for day visitors ran on a kerosene generator and hosted evening events for charters on the Blue Boat... This print of my painting could be of a seaside view nearly anywhere in New Zealand. It is in fact taken from a photo of Ngunguru while I was there on a lovely sunny holiday with my children. 

The image size of this print measures 400mm x 600mm - a great size work on the wall to draw your eye through into a view of an idyllic NZ summer day.

In the late afternoon at the beach looking through the silhouette of a Pohutukawa tree up into the aether or quintessence (a medium which fills the space of the universe above the earthly sphere). The forms of this tree takes on an ethereal beauty - simultaneously familiar to us and otherworldly.
