This is my latest painting. The view looking down the beach is from a photo taken on one of my many hiking adventures - this one being from Te Waha point lookout. It looks down on Kohuni Bay (which means sea mist) and up Piha beach towards Lion Rock at sunset. The shadow falls on the lower part of the work defining the lush green leaves - which I thought were a rather beautiful foreground of the sunlit beach...

The painting in acrylics on canvas measures 750mm x 1000mm and is framed (765mm x 1015mm) in a wooden tray frame beautifully polished with bees wax.

This painting depicts a view from Rangitoto island looking out onto Browns Island through a wild grass which I know from my childhood as Bunny Tails. I remember picking bunches of them :-)

This large work (of 210+ painting hours) depicts an amazing view from the lookout on the very beautiful Roberton island (or Motuarohia island) one of the many stunning spots in the Bay of Islands - in New Zealand's north island. I named this work after the lovely song "Summertime", and also my memories growing up in Paihia exploring the many islands nearby - Roberton being one of them. I love Tui's and their song. I spotted this one as I was leaving work and stopped to photograph it feeding.

This gorgeous turquoise bach on Rangitoto island - Lease 22 - is known by the family as "Little Coogee.

I've wanted to paint this view for such a long time. It's taken from a photograph of Ngunguru Sandspit when I was there with my kids on a family holiday, though it could of course be of many places in New Zealand. The  yacht reminds me of one I went away on a lot when I was a kid with my parents - I think it was a Davidson ...

This work can simply be seen as a successful day out fishing, and there is so much life in this work.

I painting this original painting in 2001 in a style I developed utilising a water colour technique on paper. Looking at this painting now I imagine I was drawn to this subject matter because of the colour, composition and the light. Also - I love fish for dinner :-)

This painting depicts a beautiful view I saw while driving up from Thames towards the Coromandel township. I felt the raw and young essence of New Zealand in these hills, as they rolled down towards a sea filled with sunlight. The little cottage in the valley showing a hint of humanity, which is all but rendered insignificant amid the immense beauty of the surrounding land.

This original painting completed in November 2023 looks down onto Hahei beach and over to Te Pare Point with the Alderman islands in the distance. The serenity of this place, of places like this on a hot summer's day beckon the viewer to visit. I certainly want to go back to Hahei, it's been a while...
